Ensuring transparent and effective public services vital for development

A dialogue meeting was held in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira to make government services more people-friendly and accessible, bringing together representatives of 45 professional organizations and officials from various government departments.

The meeting aimed to strengthen access to public services, build mutual trust, and establish effective communication between service providers and local communities. It was organized recently the Shyamnagar Upazila Officers’ Club, arranged BARCIK in collaboration with local occupational associations.

The session was chaired by Krishnananda Mukherjee, President of the Shyamnagar Green Coalition. BARCIK officer Biswajit Mondal moderated the event, while Regional Coordinator Ramkrishna Jowarder delivered the opening remarks and facilitated participant introductions.

The guests of the dialogues included senior Fisheries officer Md. Touhid Hasan, project implementation officer Md. Miraj Hossain, social welfare officer S.M. Delwar Hossain, OCC Officer Pranab Biswas, Youth Development Officer Md. Ahsan Habib, and representatives from professional bodies, the Green Coalition, and BARCIK.

During the discussion, officials explained the services offered by their respective departments, access procedures, and existing limitations. Community representatives expressed concern over inadequate information about government services and instances of harassment while seeking support. They emphasized that ensuring transparent and effective public services is vital for local and national development.
