Lipi Begum from Patgram Char village in Harirampur, Manikganj, represents the transformative potential of rural women in agriculture. Living in a five-member family, she depends primarily on farming for her livelihood.
After joining BARCIK in 2023, she received training in indigenous seed conservation, vermicomposting, organic pest control, climate-resilient farming, and disaster risk reduction. She applied this knowledge to practice year-round vegetable and spice cultivation using environment -friendly methods.

Lipi produces her own organic fertilizers and pesticides, reducing costs and environmental impact. She also generates additional income through seed conservation and sales, along with rearing poultry and livestock. These efforts have significantly improved her household income and nutritional status.
Her success has inspired neighboring farmers to adopt biodiversity based agroecological practices and seed conservation. She is now recognized as a community resource person, providing training and guidance to others.

Looking ahead, Lipi Begum plans to establish her house as an agroecologucal learning center where farmers can learn sustainable farming techniques. Her journey highlights how proper training and support can empower rural women to become leaders in sustainable agriculture.
