A training workshop on eco-friendly farming and organic pesticide preparation using local materials was recently organized in Dighi Para village under Darshanpara Union by BARCIK.
BARCIK Program Officer Md. Touhidul Islam, Associate Program Officer Sultana Khatun, Women UP Member Sukila Begum, members of Model Shoto Bari, members of the Dighipara Women’s Organization, local farmers, and villagers from different professions participated in the training.

During the session, discussions focused on environment friendly farming practices using locally available resources. Participants learned how to prepare organic pesticides and liquid fertilizers using neem leaves, bael leaves, moringa leaves, mahogany seeds, basil leaves, ash, copper sulfate, lime, and other natural ingredients.
UP Member Sukila Begum said, ‘The training would be highly beneficial for both herself and local farmers. Participants also shared that using organic pesticides can reduce harmful insects, lower production costs, improve soil fertility, and help produce safe, chemical-free vegetables.
Hasina Begum (35) said that local organic methods reduce farming expenses and protect environmental balance and support sustainable agriculture. Ayesha Begum (38), a member of Model Shotobari, added that organic pesticides help to grow healthier and toxin-free crops.

Participating farmers expressed strong interest in adopting eco-friendly agricultural practices and emphasized on reducing excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides to ensure safe food production.
The workshop highlighted the importance of expanding organic pesticide use for sustainable agriculture and food safety.
