One Moringa Tree Brings hundreds of benefits

By Rukhsana Rumi from Netrakona

With support from BARCIK and the Green Coalition Committee, a community discussion and moringa leaf distribution program titled “One Drumstick Tree Brings Hundreds of Benefits” was organized in Darunbali Green Village of Netrokona Sadar Upazila. The event was jointly arranged by the local adolescent girls’ group, youth organization, and women of the Shotobari initiative.

For the last five years, adolescents and youth in the village have been working to transform their community into a “Moringa Village.” Currently, around 200 households have moringa trees. The program aimed to raise awareness about the nutritional and medicinal benefits of moringa leaves as a “super food.”

Farmer researcher Golam Mostofa Madhu highlighted that moringa leaves are rich in nutrition and have significant medicinal value. According to Ayurvedic practices and modern science, moringa helps prevent numerous diseases and supports overall health.

At the end of the program, moringa branches were distributed among 50 families for plantation. The initiative promotes nutrition, environmental conservation, youth participation, and community awareness about safe and healthy food.
