Minty now able to support her family

Minty Soren (35) is a mother of two. Her son enjoys studying and playing football, while her daughter helps with sewing during leisure time.

Minty and her husband Pion Hemrom (38) work together to produce handcrafted embroidered quilts (kantha). A single designed quilt sells for around 1,600 BDT, and they can complete one within 4–5 days using a Singer machine. They also take custom orders and have already completed two commissioned quilts.

Minty hopes to expand the work and earn a steady income through her skill. “We want to continue sewing and increase our production,” she said. “This work allows us to support our family and express our creativity” she added.

Minty Soren, member of a women’s development group in Belpukur, Tanore, joined BARCIK in 2023. Since then she learned on how she could contribute in the her family progress and with the suggestion and facilitation supports from BARCIK she learned sewing and now can earn which somehow boost her confidence.
