By Amreen Binte Azad from Dhaka

An inception workshop was held on 8 February for the Rosa Luxemburgh supported project titled “Advancing Climate-Resilient Food Systems in Bangladesh (2026)” at the BARCIK Conference Room in Lalmatia, Dhaka.

BARCIK regional coordinators from 4 working areas including all BARCIK staff members in Dhaka participated in the workshop. The objective of the workshop was to establish a shared understanding of the initiative and finalize roadmap for implementing the project in 2026.

BARCIK executive director and director of Knowledge Management and Communication unit of BARCIK facilitated the workshop. Workshop sessions included a project overview, explanation of objectives, discussion on documentation and facilitation guidelines, expected results, and finalization of roles, activities, and timelines for the year.

While sharing the goal and objective of the project Sukanta Sen said that farmers cannot continue their long term movement for fair rights, livelihoods, and environmental protection alone. In this context, the active role of a strong secondary stakeholder support system is essential..

During the workshop an 11-member facilitation team was formed to facilitate the project activities and an action plan was formulated including assigning responsibilities to each of the facilitation members was formulated.
