A workshop on organizational strengthening, leadership development, and gender justice was held recently in Baje Kajla, Ward No. 28 of Rajshahi City. The workshop was organized by BARCIK and 21 adolescent girls from the Baje Kajla adolescent group participated.
The workshop discussed the importance and role of organizations, collective decision-making, members’ responsibilities, mutual cooperation, and collective action to claim rights and address community concerns. Participants also shared their experiences of working in groups.
A session on leadership development focused on the qualities of effective leaders, leadership skills, participatory leadership, and opportunities for young people to develop leadership through group activities.
The session on gender justice explored gender concepts, causes of discrimination, equal rights and opportunities, and the importance of ensuring fairness and inclusion in group activities.
Sabitri Hemram, Women’s Affairs Secretary of the Central Committee of the National Indigenous Peoples Council, served as a facilitator, while Tohura Khatun Lily conducted the different sessions. Participants emphasized strengthening their organization, developing leadership skills, and promoting equal opportunities and rights for women and men.
