A three-day training workshop on Agroecology, Food Sovereignty, and Climate Justice was held recently at the Arab Bhaban Auditorium in Manikganj. The workshop was organized by BARCIK with financial support from the INKOTA.
The training was facilitated by BARCIK Director and Researcher Pavel Partha, Syed Ali Biswas, Kamruzzaman Sagar, Manikganj Regional Coordinator Bimal Roy, and Shyamnagar Regional Coordinator Shahin Islam.

Representatives from Shyamnagar and Manikganj presented local assessments covering agricultural conditions, biodiversity, the impacts of energy intensive and agrochemical based agriculture, climate change, natural disasters, social challenges, and the potential of agroecological farming practices. Participants actively discussed these findings and shared field experiences.

The sessions covered key topics including agroecology, food sovereignty, climate justice, gender equality, women’s empowerment, farmers’ seed systems, biodiversity, human rights, market systems, disaster risk reduction, and climate adaptation. Through group work, participants identified barriers to agroecology and gender equality, proposed practical solutions, developed criteria for selecting target villages and farming households, and prepared preliminary action plans.
Participants described the training as highly practical and valuable for strengthening their knowledge and improving field-level implementation of agroecological initiatives.
