National Disability Day was observed in Shyamnagar with a rally and discussion meeting aimed at building an inclusive society for persons with disabilities and accelerating social progress. The program was held at Joyakhali village in Kaikhali Union of Shyamnagar Upazila. The event was organized by the Joyakhali Women’s Organization with support from BARCIK.
The discussion meeting was chaired by Najmun Nahar, President of the Joyakhali Women’s Organization. Speakers included Md. Alimuddin Gazi, Khadija Begum, BARCIK Program Officer Maruf Hossain (Milon), Bakkar Gazi, and Mahibullah, among others.
Speakers urged everyone to become more aware of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and to show greater care and responsibility toward them. They emphasized that persons with disabilities must not be neglected and should be included as equal partners in nation-building and social development.
