Let the earth turn green, let nature thrive

A student-led tree plantation programme was held recently at Abbasia High School in Kailati Union, Netrakona Sadar, under the slogan “Let the Earth Turn Green, Let Nature Thrive.”

The initiative was jointly organized by Abbasia High School, BARCIK with support from BARCIK to raise awareness among young people about climate change and environmental conservation.

The programme began with a colourful awareness rally featuring banners and placards promoting environmental protection and climate action. This was followed by a discussion on the importance of tree planting and ecosystem conservation.

Head Teacher of the school Abdur Rashid, attending as chief guest, said that planting tree is one of the most effective ways to address rising global temperatures and encouraged students to plant and care for trees.

Teachers, school management committee members, BARCIK staff, local environmental activists, youth representatives, and students participated in the event.

Participants particularly students planted ornamental, fruit, timber, and medicinal tree saplings on the school campus, while 300 saplings were distributed among students to promote community greening.

Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge, BARCIK is a non-governmental non-profit development organization. Established in 1997 by a group of development practitioners, researchers and social workers, BARCIK has been working in the fields of environment and development with utmost commitment and purpose. Registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau under the Prime Minister’s Office, Government of Bangladesh, to operate foreign funds.
