Call for Green Movement to Protect Nature in Manikgonj

A two-day workshop on agroecology, climate justice, and food sovereignty capacity development was held recently at the Beutha Arab Bhaban in Manikganj. The event was jointly organized by BARCIK and the Green Coalition.

The closing session of the workshop was chaired by freedom fighter Shamsul Alam, a member of the organization, and moderated by BARCIK Regional Coordinator Bimal Chandra Roy. Key remarks were delivered by Syed Ali Biswas, Director of BARCIK. Important sessions were conducted by BARCIK coordinator Shaheda Azbela Purna and BARCIK staff Firoza Sarkar.

During group discussions and interactive sessions, participants emphasized on the need to strengthen the Green Coalition, promote agroecological practices, and intensify the green movement to protect the environment.

Speakers of the workshop included Jahangir Alam Master from Harirampur, youth representative Atowar Rahman Toha from Ghior, women’s leader Parveen Akter from Singair, and women entrepreneur Akhi Akter from Manikganj Municipality, among others.

At the end of the workshop, participants called for unity in forming a green alliance to protect natural resources such as soil, water, air, and other gifts of nature that are freely provided to humanity.
