Tree Plantation promotes a greener school campus

Rajur Bazar Collegiate School organized its annual tree plantation programme to promote environmental protection and strengthen climate resilience. The initiative, supported by BARCIK, was inaugurated by Advocate Md. Nuruzzaman, Administrator of the Netrakona District Council.

Teachers, students, members of the school management committee, local journalists, and BARCIK representatives participated in the programme. Speakers emphasized that green initiatives in educational institutions play a vital role in raising environmental awareness and building climate-resilient communities.

It is to mention that BARCIK has been supporting the school’s transformation into a “Green Campus” since 2016. In addition to regular tree plantation, the school has undertaken various environmental initiatives, including observing World Environment Day, operating an honesty store, promoting rainwater harvesting, and establishing a community seed bank.

Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge, BARCIK is a non-governmental non-profit development organization. Established in 1997 by a group of development practitioners, researchers and social workers, BARCIK has been working in the fields of environment and development with utmost commitment and purpose. Registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau under the Prime Minister’s Office, Government of Bangladesh, to operate foreign funds.
