To mark World Environment Day 2026, an Agroecology Learning Center in Bishwanathpur village of Amtala Union, Netrakona, organized a tree sapling distribution program under the theme “Inspired by Nature for Climate and Our Future.”

Farmers, youth, teachers, and students from Bishwanathpur and nearby villages participated in the event. Ten (10) local environmental champions were recognized and awarded tree saplings for their long-standing contributions to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, safe food production, indigenous seed conservation, organic farming, livestock rearing, and community tree planting.

The program highlighted the growing challenges of climate change, including heatwaves, droughts, and irregular rainfall, and discussed nature-based solutions for building resilience. Participants also emphasized the importance of protecting local natural resources such as rivers, ponds, and century-old trees.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to avoid environmentally harmful practices and work together to transform their villages into greener and more sustainable communities.
