A free health camp was held for low-income communities in Satkhira, jointly organized by BARCIK, SD Hospital, and the Banikbarta newspaper.
The camp, held in the Kukrali Bospara area on Saturday, provided free medical services, medicines, and nutritional advice to over one hundred people, including women and children. Medical services were provided by Dr. Mosaddek Hossain, a Medical Officer from SD Hospital.
Organizers mentioned that many of the beneficiaries, displaced from their villages by climate change impacts, now lead impoverished lives in the city. “Extreme heat waves in urban areas severely affect their lives and health, often pushing them deeper into poverty when they seek medical care. This camp is a small effort to support them,” an organizer said.
Kohinoor Begum, a beneficiary, said, “Most people in our areas are poor and cannot afford proper medical care, especially women. This camp is a great help for us.”
