BARCIK organized a free health service camp in the Chhotobangram area of Rajshahi city under the theme “Let’s Build a Livable City for All, Ensure Safe Healthcare for Everyone” recently.

This timely initiative comes amid a rising rate of COVID-19 infections in Rajshahi. Beyond providing medical consultations, the camp also focused on raising awareness about health precautions and hygiene practices. Masks were distributed among the participants, and they were encouraged to follow safety guidelines to remain protected.

The camp was led by Dr. Jayanta Pramanik, a health specialist from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Under his supervision, participants received general check-ups, medical consultations, and essential health advice.

A total of 114 individuals benefited from the camp, including 93 women and 21 men. The response from the local urban poor community was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the much-needed support.

Khorshed Alam, a resident of Chhotobangram and convenor of the Urban Poor Rights Implementation Committee, said, “This kind of camp is very beneficial for our community. We often face difficulties in accessing healthcare, but today we received free medical services. Not only were people treated, but they also became more aware of COVID-19. I sincerely thank BARCIK for this humanitarian initiative.”

BARCIK stated that such programs will continue in the future with the goal of delivering basic healthcare and raising awareness among underserved populations.
