A farmer solidarity rally and discussion meeting was organized in Barogachhi, Paba Upazila, Rajshahi, organized by Green Coalition and BARCIK.
With placards in hand, participants chanted slogans such as “Practice eco-friendly farming, protect pollinators” as they marched in a rally, raising awareness about the importance of bees and other pollinators.

Rahima Begum, Convener of Green Coalition, said, “Once, honeycombs were a common sight in village orchards. Now, they have disappeared. Commercial honey production is taking over, but we are losing the natural bees and authentic honey.”
Monira Begum, a Union Parishad Member, said, “Honey boosts immunity. Protecting bees is not only about the environment but also about public health.”
Shahidul Islam, Regional Coordinator of BARCIK Rajshahi, said in his welcome speech, “If we want to ensure food security, pollinator protection is crucial. Government policies on agriculture and environment must include dedicated sections to protect pollinators.”

Among other discussants of the event included: Touhidul Islam, Associate Program Officer of BARCIK, Upen Robidas, accountant of BARCIK, Abdur Jabbar, President of the Barogachhi Farmers’ Unity and Jewel Ahmed, President of the Barnai Folklore Council.
Several local leaders, farmers, and community members were present during the event, expressing solidarity in preserving pollinators for a sustainable future.
