On the occasion of World Environment Day, a large environmental rally was held on 5 June in Shyamnagar, Satkhira, demanding a special allocation in the national budget for the protection of biodiversity and the coastal ecosystem. The event was organized by the Sundarbans Student Solidarity Team, with support from BARCIK.

Held by the banks of the Chuna River, the rally saw participation from local communities, youth volunteers, and environmental groups. Speakers condemned unplanned development harming the coastal environment and stressed the need for strong policies, plastic waste control, and climate resilience.

The presence of local fishers, youth, and environmental activists highlighted a strong community commitment. Organizers hope the rally will raise awareness and push policymakers toward sustainable environmental action.
