BARCIK and Char-Mogra Farmers’ Organization organized discussion and human chain to mark the International Women’s Day. With the theme “Rights, Equality, Empowerment, and the Development of Women and Girls” the day was celebrated honoring women’s contribution in society.

BARCIK official Shahinur Rahman moderated the event which was presided over by the organization’s president and local reserved female UP member, Hosne Ara. Among other guests include Rahima Begum, Jonota Begum, Rubaiya Begum, and Razia Begum, Abdur Razzak, Abdur Rahman, and BARCIK officer Masudur Rahman.
When asking Rahima Begum about this international women day she said, ‘We now know that there is a special day dedicated to our rights and dignity.” She further added, “A woman performs at least 50 different tasks every day—household chores, child-rearing, livestock rearing, seed preservation, organic fertilizer production, cooking but none of this labor is economically valued. A woman’s contributions to her family and society deserve recognition.’
Razia Begum emphasized the need for a ‘safe environment for women’ saying ‘Women’s safety must be ensured in offices, courts, agricultural fields, markets, public transport, and educational institutions. Strict laws should be enforced to prevent violence against women, dowry practices, child marriage, and harassment.”

Hosne Ara president of the women organization said, ‘I am a woman just like you. Being a woman does not mean being weak. I was elected as a female UP member by your votes.’ However she emphasized on empowering women state that women must be educated, trained, and skilled.
Abdur Razzak remarked, ‘We must create an equal society together, without excluding anyone. Women are not our competitors but our partners.’
The event concluded with a human chain where participants collectively voiced their commitment to preventing violence against women, child marriage, harassment, and dowry practices.
