With the slogan of ‘building a livable city for all and ensuring safe health’ BARCIK organized a free healthcare camp in Budhpara Harijan Colony of Rajshahi city yesterday (19 May).
Experienced MBBS doctors from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital provided healthcare at this camp where a total of 106 poor men and women from Budhpara, Harijan Palli and Chauddapai Colony received healthcare. The Camp also prioritized on the elderly and children focusing on providing health services.

Many of the patients had been suffering from various diseases for a long time, but could not afford to get treatment due to being poor and the health camp arranged by BARCIK at least served their primary needs.
However, due to climate change people particularly the urban poor in the city face different health related problems. Living in the city’s slums are constantly forced them to live in hot, polluted, disease-ridden and unsafe environments. They are largely isolated from healthcare.

BARCIK emphasizing on contributing to easing health related problems of the urban poor urged the state authority to consider climate change-related health risks and the needs of the poor in urban health planning.
