Farmers’ statement on earth day: Nature based Farming is safe and eco-friendly

On the occasion of Earth Day, a discussion event was held in Karigorpara, Bargachhi Union of Paba Upazila, in Rajshahi focusing on eco-friendly farming practices and vermicompost production. The event was organized by a local community group with support from BARCIK.

During the discussion, farmers shared their success stories of producing safe food using organic fertilizers and natural pest control methods.

Farmer Rubel Ali from Karigorpara stated, “Chemical fertilizers and pesticides degrade soil quality and harm our health. Organic methods are safer and more environmentally friendly.” Woman farmer Julia Begum said, “Using organic fertilizer has increased crop yields and reduced costs enabling us to benefited from agriculture.”

Award-winning woman from the region, Bilkis Begum, said, “Organic farming helps to save both the soil and the Earth. It also helps us to earn cash and consume safe foods.”

BARCIK assistant program officer Md. Touhidul Islam remarked, “Climate change poses a serious threat to agriculture. A united effort is essential to build a greener planet.”

The event concluded with a call to action encouraging everyone to adopt eco-friendly farming to ensure a livable and sustainable Earth.
