Beekeeping Training: Friends of Nature and Agroecology

A beekeeping training program was recently held in Sadhupara village under the initiative of the local Development Centre and farmers’ organization. Ten interested farmers from six nearby villages participated in the program.

Experienced beekeeper Nazrul Islam from Tarati village of Rampur Union conducted hands-on training on hive installation, maintenance, honey collection, and disease management.

Mohammad Ahidur Rahman, regional coordinator of BARCIK, said, “Bees are not only honey producers; they are crucial for pollination, soil fertility, and biodiversity conservation.”

Participants emphasized that increasing local flowering plants and beekeeping practices will enhance crop yield, income, and environmental sustainability.

Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge, BARCIK is a non-governmental non-profit development organization. Established in 1997 by a group of development practitioners, researchers and social workers, BARCIK has been working in the fields of environment and development with utmost commitment and purpose. Registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau under the Prime Minister’s Office, Government of Bangladesh, to operate foreign funds.
